چکیده

Abstract Background In order to apply the findings of antihypertensive randomised controlled trials older adults, it is important understand populations included and consider generalizability results cohorts that may have been excluded. The purpose this study was determine whether participants with orthostatic hypotension were in trial therapy adverse event rates particular importance cohort; namely falls or syncope differed based on their exclusion. Methods We performed a systematic review meta-analysis comparing antihypertensives placebo, combination agents compared fewer higher lower blood pressure targets reports outcomes. A random-effects used estimate pooled treatment-effect overall subgroups which excluded patients did not exclude hypotension. Difference treatment effect assessed by testing P for interaction. primary outcome measure events. Results Forty-Seven included, including 18 those 29 Thirteen (n=94,222) reported falls. baseline incidence control group 4.8% 8.8% association similar (OR 1.00; 95%CI, 0.89-1.13) (OR, 1.02; 0.88 –1.18). Conclusion exclusion under-estimate rate events such as but does appear affect relative risk estimates associated antihypertensives.
